2020 lies ahead as another year full of tourism industry events and trade shows which offer great value to Affilired, offering us the chance to strengthen business relationships and establish new ones. Besides, attending these events is by far the best way of gaining insights into the ever-changing trends of the Travel industry.

It might be hard to keep up to date with where you could meet us (we know your mailbox is already full of emails starting with a «Shall we meet at….»), so to synchronize agendas, we thought it would be handy to just summarise the top events of the coming months. JANUARY

Satte Delhi

  • When? From 6th to 10th January.
  • Where? India Expo Center & Mart, located in Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, India.
  • Why? It is the main event of the tourism sector in South Asia with 25 years of history.
  • Highlights: It has more than 1000 exhibitors from 50 different countries and about 31,000 visitors and industry professionals.

ATF Brunei – The Asean tourism forum.

  • When? From 12th to 16th January.
  • Where? Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.
  • Why? It is the best platform to sell and buy tourist products from ASEAN member countries. In addition, they are celebrating its 40th edition.
  • Highlights: The 10 ASEAN member states are involved in the event.

Caribbean travel marketplace

  • When? From 21st to 23rd January.
  • Where? Baha Mar, Bahamas.
  • Why? It is the largest marketing fair in the Caribbean.
  • Highlights: About 28 Caribbean countries, 215 suppliers of the sector and 148 companies will attend.

Fitur Madrid

  • When? From 22nd to 26th January.
  • Where? Ifema, Madrid.
  • Why? It is the largest tourism fair in Spain.
  • Highlights: 253,000 participants, 142,000 professionals, more than 10,000 exhibitors from 165 different countries are expected.

The New York Times Travel Show 2020

  • When? From 24th to 26th January.
  • Where? Jacob K. Javits Center, New York.
  • Why? It is the largest travel and consumer fair in North America.
  • Highlights: Attracts more than 35.000 attendees with over 700 exhibitors from more than 175 countries.

FEBRUARY

Connect Travel Marketplace

  • When? From 19th to 21st February
  • Where? Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center de Kissimmee, Florida.
  • Why? In this international tourism fair, the main buyers meet with the most important suppliers in the United States. A good showcase and place to do business in this market.
  • Highlights: It is specially designed to address the needs of the industry. It promotes international travel by bringing international buyers (3000) and almost 4000 suppliers. Its appointment-show format is the most interesting.

Vitrina Turística ANATO Colombia

  • When? From 26th to 28th January.
  • Where? Corporation of fairs, exhibitions and conferences. Anato building.
  • Why? Because after more than 20 years, it is the most important tourist event in Colombia, perfect to establish new professional relationships and position ourselves in this market.
  • Highlights: Almost 40,000 participants, about 29,000 professionals from 36 countries, more than 1,400 exhibiting companies and 1000 accredited journalists.

MARCH

ITB Berlin – The world’s leading travel trade show

  • When? From 4th to 8th March.
  • Where? Berlin Expo Center City, Messe Berlin.
  • Why? It is the B2B fair par excellence and the world’s leading travel fair.
  • Highlights: More than 180 countries, 10,000 exhibitors and 113,000 visitors. It is the fair where supply meets demand.

BTL Lisboa

  • When? From 11th to 15th March.
  • Where? Lisbon International Fair.
  • Why? Portugal is a potential market for us and the BTL is the place to obtain new business contacts.
  • Highlights: It has more than 70,000 visitors, almost 35,000 professionals and 1,400 exhibitors.

TIANGUIS Mexico

  • When? From 22nd to 25th March.
  • Where? Convention and exhibition centre of Yucatán.
  • Why? It is the most important event in Mexico and an essential business forum to establish contacts in Latin America.
  • Highlights: This is its 45th edition and more than 700 companies and tourism representatives from 5 continents will be there.

Bal Niketan India

Desde 2016 colaborando con Bal Niketan India.

A lo largo de los años, en Affilired siempre hemos apostado por colaborar en distintas causas sociales que nos han parecido trascendentes y justas. Pero no fue hasta 2016 cuando decidimos apostar por una colaboración continuada en el tiempo con el orfanato Bal Niketan de Pachkula, India.

Apoyar a la organización y dar soporte a los niños es sin duda, de las mejores acciones que hemos realizado. Desde los inicios, la relación con ellos fue más allá de lo meramente material o económico. Cada día 13 de cada mes, dos de nuestros compañeros de la oficina de la India, se acercan al orfanato para realizar una comida especial con los niños y pasar con ellos unas horas en las que la diversión y el aprendizaje son el objetivo principal.

Además de las comidas, también se han realizado acciones especiales como clases de informática, con el objetivo de proporcionarles conocimiento y herramientas que no suelen tener a su alcance en su día a día.

El pasado diciembre, con motivo de nuestras fiestas de navidad, Diego Gomila, CEO de Affilired, fue a nuestras oficinas de la India tanto para estar con nuestros compañeros como para visitar a los niños del orfanato y hacerles un regalo especial, gracias al cual, se vivieron momentos realmente emotivos.

Es difícil describir las emociones que sentimos todos, pero ver sus miradas de complicidad y sonrisas, antes de ni siquiera haber abierto su regalo, nos hace reafirmarnos en la necesidad de ofrecer apoyo a los colectivos más vulnerables, en este caso los niños.

¿De qué se trata?

Por un lado, hemos introducido cookies de primeros para mejorar la medición del tráfico de las campañas. Esto nos permite ser mucho más precisos en cuanto a la obtención de información, con el fin de evitar en todo momento, perder datos en el rastreo de las cookies.

Por otro lado, hemos desarrollado una funcionalidad determinística de seguimiento multidispositivo o cross-device, con el fin de ofrecer un entorno transparente, capaz de crear conexiones entre diferentes dispositivos. De ese modo podremos saber cuándo un usuario ha interactuado con tu sitio web a través de uno de nuestros enlaces, en qué momento ha realizado la compra y a través de qué dispositivo. Todo dentro de un intervalo de tiempo predeterminado.

¿Por qué se ha realizado?

El proyecto surge como respuesta a las nuevas tendencias respecto a las cookies de terceros, donde navegadores como Safari han implementado nuevas políticas al respecto y también, con el objetivo de adaptarnos al nuevo paradigma del usuario multi-dispositivo.

Con estos datos podemos analizar, comprender y asignar correctamente el valor de nuestras campañas.

Introducing first-party cookies and cross-device tracking.

What’s it all about?

On the one hand, we have introduced first-party cookies to improve affiliate traffic measuring, keeping us up to date with the industry’s latest trends. This allows us to be much more precise in terms of obtaining information, in order to avoid losing data.

On the other hand, we have also developed a multi-device or cross device tracking with a deterministic function. The purpose of these upgrades is to offer you a transparent environment, able to create connections between different devices. These connections enable us to know when a user has interacted with your website using one of our links, at what time and on what device was the purchase made. All within a predetermined time interval.

Why have we done it?

The project arises in response to new trends regarding third-party cookies, where browsers like Safari have implemented new policies regarding this, and also, with the aim of adapting to the new multi-device user paradigm.

We are off to the Affiliate Summit APAC 2018 from the 1st Oct to the 3rd Oct.

Since 2010, Affilired has attended all the Affiliate Summit shows that our busy schedule has allowed us to do so because, from our own experience, we believe Affiliate Summit Shows to be one of the industry’s most prestigious events. A showcase for everything that is new and upcoming within the affiliate industry. Our experience of them has always been very positive, due to the fact that every time we have attended one, we have taken full advantage of the event, taking the opportunity to keep up with the latest trends and finding time to put a face to some of the most important people and companies such as ShareASale and Affiliate Window within the industry.

Affiliates, publishers, affiliate networks and companies specialising in digital solutions for the affiliate industry find the “AS” to be an ideal setting to network and learn from the industry’s guru what the future hold holds for the industry.

Given what we have mentioned above, it will come as no surprise to know that we decided without hesitation to attend the 1st Affiliate Summit ever to be held in the Asia Pacific region, to be precise in Singapore, at the spectacular Marina Bay Sands, on 1st, 2nd and 3rd October 2018. It will be a great opportunity given the number of attendees, to do some really good networking and attend some of the specialised conferences they have planned.

Affilired’s summer schedule begins 1st July.

It’s time to kick off your shoes and welcome the return of the flip flops!
Summertime; when we switch off our laptops at 3 pm to make the most of the sun, the beach and the summer vibes.
As usual, during July and August we will be compressing our working day so, instead of starting at 8 am and finishing at 4.30 pm, we will be working from 8 am to 3 pm, and WE LOVE IT.

So take note from 1st July to 31st August our daily working day will be:

Monday: 8 am-3 pm.
Tuesday: 8 am-3 pm.
Wednesday: 8 am-3 pm.
Thursday: 8 am-3 pm.
Friday: 8 am-3 pm.

So, if you call at 3.15 pm and no one answers that will be because we are probably lying on the beach, soaking up the rays, drinking fresh ice tea and dipping our toes in the cool sea.

We are really sorry about that.

Affilired empieza horario de verano.

Affilired empieza el 1 de julio con el horario de verano.

Cuando el tiempo nos obliga a cambiar el “foulard” por el abanico y los zapatos por las chanclas, es que también ha llegado el momento de cambio en Affilired. Nos adaptamos al verano apagando los ordenadores a las 3 pm para poder disfrutar de las bondades del verano al máximo, ¡cosa que nos encanta!

Como cada año, durante los meses de julio y agosto, comprimimos las horas laborales para salir a las 3 pm en lugar de a las 4.30 pm como es habitual.

Así que recordad, desde el 1 de julio y hasta el 31 de agosto, nuestro horario laboral pasará a ser:

Lunes: 8 am-3 pm.
Martes: 8 am-3 pm.
Miércoles: 8 am-3 pm.
Jueves: 8 am-3 pm.
Viernes: 8 am-3 pm.

Si llamas cualquier día a las 3.15 pm y no responde nadie, ten en cuenta que probablemente se deba a que estaremos tumbados en la playa, bebiendo té helado y con los pies en el mar.

Affilired restyling

We are rebranding, creating a new look to bring a smile to your face.

Towards the end of 2017, we assigned the task of redesigning our visual brand identity to the Inventum Agency. The brief we gave them was that our new brand identity was reflect Affilired’s extensive DNA, matching each new element or aspect to our new identity with the existing corporate values and activities that make Affilired what it is today.

The trial and error needed to refine and iterate the design were all part and parcel of perfecting a new identity to reflect the very best of Affilired, at last, after all the hard work, we are proud to announce we have a new corporate image.

Affilired brand restyling

The details of our new look have been changed to convey an Affilired which is stronger, more dynamic but yet at the same time reflecting a warmer relationship between ourselves and our clients. However, the one detail which remains unchanged is the colour RED. This has been with us from the very beginning, representing our positivity, vivacity, energy and passion, all elements which are so important in Affilired’s day to day operations.
We recognised that the tone of our new look is slightly more subtle, it symbolises both our standing in the performance marketing industry and the length of the journey we have travelled since our inception in 2007.

Our new visual identity has been updated across all of our existing online and offline assets such as web, blog, social media, corporate merchandising, signs, promotional material and others, bringing our brand identity bang up to date.
We knew that the time was right for a new look, we choose one that was not too radical but that reflects our global presence and is capable of strengthening our worldwide image.

We placed special emphasis on bringing the all-important human touch to our new look with is why we chose “FFI” which symbolizes two people joining their hands in friendship.

Changing our brand image goes beyond just the visual, it is also a cultural shift, changing the way everyone at Affilired communicates both offline and online, it will affect us from the inside out. It has already made us smile, we hope it will do the same for you.

Lanzamos un restyling de marca capaz de sacarnos la sonrisa.

A finales de 2017 dejamos en manos de la agencia Inventum el rediseño de nuestra identidad visual. La puesta en marcha del restyling partía de la premisa de respetar el ADN de la marca, alineando cada elemento o forma nueva con los valores y el activo de éxito que nos representa: las personas.

El ensayo, prueba y error son una constante en este tipo de trabajos tan minuciosos y personales, pero a su vez, son pasos necesarios para apreciar la incesante evolución del trabajo realizado hasta llegar a lo que hoy podemos decir que es, con mucho orgullo, ¡nuestra nueva imagen corporativa!

Se puede apreciar como la tipografía, líneas y rasgos en la personalidad de Affilired han cambiado con el propósito de expresar más fuerza, dinamismo y sobre todo, más cercanía y trato humano entre Affilired y los clientes.
Lo que hemos dejado inalterable ha sido el color rojo que tanto nos representa y que lleva con nosotros desde el principio. Forma parte de nuestra esencia por su positivismo, vivacidad, energía y pasión, elementos que no pueden faltar en nuestro día a día. Aunque no negaremos que la tonalidad es sutilmente más suave, símbolo del punto de madurez y estabilidad en el que nos encontramos.

El restyling se ha implementado en web, blog, redes sociales, merchandising, materiales corporativos, señalética, entre otros, con el objetivo de renovar una imagen que ha permanecido invariable desde que nació Affilired hace 11 años.
Vimos claro que era el momento preciso para realizar un cambio de look, evitando que fuese radical pero sí resultón, capaz de fortalecer la personalidad e imagen existente de la marca a nivel internacional, ya que trabajamos con clientes de los 5 continentes.

Se hizo especial hincapié en que comunicara nuestro trato humano y cercano, y a ello se le hace un claro guiño con las siglas “ffi” que simbolizan dos personas dándose la mano afablemente.

Todo cambio de imagen trae consigo un trabajo más allá del meramente visual, es un cambio genérico que no solo concierne a medios online y offline o a elementos materiales, sino que también atañe a las personas que forman parte del equipo. AffiliRed social responsability

It is a year since AffiliRed began its collaboration with the Bal Niketan Orphanage in Panchkula.

Although we don’t always tell you about our solidarity actions, for the past year our colleagues from the Asia Pacific Division have gone on the 13th of each month, without exception, to the Bal Niketan Orphanage in Panchkula to have a special lunch with the children and spend the day with them filled with activities, stories and laughter.

For some years, AffiliRed has incorporated Corporate Social Responsibility actions in its annual plans. Our commitment, although it has been offered to other various social causes, always ends up being aimed at the most vulnerable groups of our society, such as children. We are proud to have been able to collaborate with various noble causes such as: the Foundation Rana, whose incredible work is directed at the prevention of sexual and child abuse and they also offer support to the victims of this crime, the Butterfly Skin Association, which is part of a larger group organization, providing support to children with rare diseases and their families or with Intermon Oxfam for the creation of safe drinking water wells in areas depressed by poverty and wars.

Our contribution is not only economic, as the involvement of the AffiliRed team goes a lot further than that as in the case of the Bal Niketan Orphanage in India, just a few kilometres away from our Asia Pacific division office.

Every month, 2 different members of the team visit the Children’s home to spend a couple of hours with them having lunch with them, chatting, also offering them affection and hugs as well taking them much-needed supplies, such as clothes, new mattresses for their beds, school supplies and computers.
At the moment our colleague Devender Panghal is organizing some computer lessons for any boys and girls who are interested in learning computer skills. Our wish is to give them the necessary tools they need to grow up to be happy and independent adults. By giving them our support we are helping to change their lives and the reality in which they live.
The most recent visits to Bal Niketan were made by Pooja Pallavi, our Operations Manager of APAC and Palky Gagneja, Assistant Account Manager, who moved us with their words on their return to the office.

Both of us were brought up by single mother and it is for that reason perhaps we can empathize more with their pain and inability to change a life that they did not choose.
These children have no one to give them affection, we at least were lucky to have our mothers.
Our visit has been very rewarding because it makes us feel useful, that we are making a difference and this motivates us to continue supporting them as much as we can.
It is our small contribution to helping them build their own lives.

All those who have visited the orphanage agree that it is a very enriching experience for both parties and we will continue to support them in every way we can.

AffiliRed recommends you the best booking engine.

The booking engine is one of the most important parts of your business.

The booking engine allows your potential customers to make direct purchases or direct bookings on your website eliminating the need for an intermediary. So, it is important to consider all the key requirements before making any final decision about which Booking Engine is best for you, thus avoiding any incompatibly with your business model and also help you consider any future issues that may arise from your decision.

What to consider when looking at Booking engines:

  • Flexibility:

The first thing to take into consideration is that the software needs to be able to adapt to the changing needs of your business, you need to ask yourself, is it able to show data of interest such as, in case of a hotel: the property features, number of rooms…
What is more, you must remember that the travel sector is ever-changing and the needs of yesterday might not the needs of tomorrow, the booking engine you choose has to be flexible enough to adapt quickly and without any unnecessary complications.

-Cross-selling and up-selling:
A good example of the specific needs of the travel sector is Cross- selling and Up-selling, complementary services, which can be added to improve and increase your revenue.
Cross-selling is the sale of services or additional goods charged at an additional low rate such as: offer on a breakfast deal or a spa treatment (in case of a hotel).
Up-selling is focused on providing a bit more for value for the customer’s money. For example, an upgrade to a premium room for a few euro more. However, if this strategy is not implemented efficiently the ROI will be too low.
These offers are updated on a regular basis depending on the strategy you would like to implement, so it is imperative that whatever software you acquire is both adaptable, flexible and easy to use.

  • Connectivity:

Make sure that your Booking engine has an integrated channel manager that is connected to the most important OTAs or your main service providers, this will allow you to centrally manage your booking engine.

  • Third party tags and pixels:

Once you have acquired your Booking engine, you will want to start your marketing campaigns, this will also include following-up upon the success of the campaigns, therefore you must ensure that you can easily include conversion/third-party tracking pixels in your engine to facilitate this process thus, allowing you try different suppliers/channels, therefore, optimizing your investment.
Importantly, any Booking engine must be properly integrated with Google Tag Manager or have its own third-party Tag management system.

  • Techincal support:

Before making your final decision, it is imperative that you make sure the booking engine provider offers 24-hour technical support seven days a week. To make the most of your investment you need to be online 24 hours a day. You cannot afford to have any operating errors as the Booking engine is your primary monetization tool, if it is unavailable for any technical reason you may lose precious revenue.

By taking these key requirements into account, you can decide which is the most suitable booking engine to invest in, but once the decision is made, we recommend performing the following 2 final steps:

  • Test your Booking Engine:

Test your booking engine on various independent users, those who are not part of your company and who can provide you with honest and unbiased feedback. You really need to experiment and run acceptance tests to make sure your candidate engine is truly the easiest and most comprehensive solution for your company. By running user tests, you will be able to iron out any difficulties before you go live.

  •  Keeping track:

Even if your test results are fine, and no unforeseen problems arise, we advise you to monitor the performance of your chosen booking engine for a couple of months after initial deployment, this will allow you to adjust the design or parameters, if needed. As mentioned previously, your company’s requirements are evolving and therefore, your Booking Engine must be able to adapt to your ever-changing business needs.

AffiliRed and programmatic advertising.

To answer that question, we need to talk about Big Data, about Real Time and about buying and selling. Why?

Well, to be honest it is quite difficult to give a straight answer, but in actual fact you know more about programmatic advertising than you think. Each time you browse, an advert appears on the web page that really catches your attention, it is not just a coincidence but the result of programmatic advertising. This makes each advert that you see more and more akin to your tastes and therefore, less irritating.

So how does it work?

The main characteristic of programmatic advertising is that advertisers buy audiences, not advertising spaces.
To understand this more, we must turn the clock back a couple of years, when the advertising inventory was bought by paying for a fixed position based on the period of exposure, impressions (CPM) or click-through rate (CTR). The problem came with the online boom, when a massive number of websites and blogs appeared offering advertising media, thus creating more supply than there was demand.
The large number of unsold spaces posed a deeper question than the obvious one of economic loss, it questioned the effectiveness of the traditional buying and selling model and thus demanding further evolution of a business model that was already becoming obsolete.

The innovation point came from the ability to build audiences through the use of labels, allowing us to discern the difference between the valid and viable impressions for each campaign target, and those that were non-viable. As a result, a wide field of new opportunities opened up that in turn gave rise to programmatic advertising and the development of the large technological universe that surrounds it.

Big Data plays the biggest role in this new model. Thanks to Big Data it is now possible to obtain large and important flows of information about users through their advertising activity such as gender, age, interests, studies, browsing behaviour … Big Data allowed the model to change and move from the purchase of specific spaces to the purchase of specific users or audience.

The idea is that if there is demand, it can be optimized quickly and in real time so that each impression is profitable as possible. It is about uniting buyers and sellers.

According to Andrés Solís from Denomatic, a company specializing in programmatic advertising, and with whom we collaborate:

In 2016 programmatic purchases accounted for 18% of the investment in digital advertising in Spain. Each year this type of advertising becomes a greater ratio in terms of the overall investment in digital media. In some countries, such as the US, programmatic buying represents 73% of the investment in digital advertising. This is due to the undeniable benefit of programmatic advertising for a brand.

So far there doesn’t seems to be too much mystery, but to understand programmatic advertising a little more, we need to delve a little deeper.

Types of programmatic advertising:

There are 4 types which can interest the advertiser depending on their objectives.

  • Guaranteed Programmatic:
    These are trade agreements made in advance, like the traditional advertising method but technologically managed. This tipology offers advantages both for advertisers and publishers.

Advertisers: they can control the space in which the adverts is displayed at all times.
The publishers: they assure their spaces are always sold.

  • Preferred Deals:
    In this instance the advertiser and the publisher have previously agreed on a fixed price to avoid reaching the auction. The advantages are similar to the guaranteed programmatic.

Advertisers: have more control over when their advert is displayed.
The publishers: they are able to fill their spaces before they go to auction.

  • Private Auction:
    As the name implies, not everyone has access to it, only the invited advertisers.

Advertisers: they have control over where their advert will appear, ensuring an audience of interest for the brand or alternatively a price that is set according to their needs.
The publishers: they ensure that all of their spaces are sold at the best price.

  • Open RTB: (Real Time Bidding):
    This is the most common model. It is an automatic auction performed in real time thanks to the Ad Exchange technology. All the spaces that are not previously sold within the traditional model go to the RTB where they are purchased individually.

Advertisers: seek maximum efficiency for each impression. Ensure their reach to their audience.
The publishers: they look to obtain the best price for their spaces or to sell off the surplus spaces.

Glossary of Programmatic Advertising. Part 2

Impression: refers to each time a user views an ad, or the ad is displayed whilst the user is navigating a web page.

Influencers: people who influence the behaviour of others. They can influence decisions made by others when it comes to buying a product or using a service. Influencers are found on social networks such as YouTube or Facebook.

Inventory: refers to a total number of spaces or impressions that a web site has available to sell to an advertiser, either through auctions or at a fixed price.

Macro: a small bit of code that is used to collect information about the clicks and/or impressions or that can facilitate certain tasks. Each DSP and/or Ad Exchange has their own macro.

Open Market: refers to a virtual market where advertising space can be bought and sold and is accessible to all types of advertisers.

Optimization: making the most effective use of advertising campaigns to obtain the best results.

Pixel Impression: a tracking pixel used by a third part in the control of impressions. They usually are used for statistical purposes or for verification of an action.

Private Auction: the numbers are restricted to selected advertisers often by invitation only.

Private Market: here advertising space is bought and sold only among a limited number of advertisers. Thw access to the market is by invitation only.

Preferred Deal: Is a purchase model in programmatic advertising where a price is set in advance, so there is neither an auction nor a guaranteed number of impressions. Publishers place a fixed price on their inventory of spaces and advertisers, based on the target audience, come to an agreement.

Price Floor: is the lowest pre-set price for the sale of the publisher inventory. If a bid doesn’t reach the pre-set price, then the sale doesn’t go through, this way the publisher can decide on the minimum bid for his inventory. It balances supply and demand.

Programmatic Advertising: is a new model of buying and selling online advertising through an automation of processes that can vary based on the use of audience data, the participation or not in real-time auctions and the negotiation of private agreements.

Programmatic Direct: encompasses different models of automated purchasing depending on the volume of data, the quality of the inventory, the number of advertisers or media involved, and what’s more on certain occasions rather than participating in real time biddings the final prices for buying or selling are fixed in a manner like that of the traditional advertising market.

Prospecting: it is process in digital marketing technique where potential clients are identified.

Purchase funnel: it is considered to the journey that a user takes until arriving at the point of purchase of a product or service.

Real Time Bidding: are auctions in real time. Different media offer their spaces and advertisers bid depending on the target audience they wish to reach.

Retargeting: a strategy used in digital marketing which consists of targeting those users who have already demonstrated an interest in the brand or have interacted with the brand with the relevant advertising.

Second Party Data: when an advertiser buys first party data from a source.

Soft Floor Price: is a second price established in a real-time bidding, the real minimum price, above the hard Floor Price. Soft floors allow publishers more flexibility with their inventory pricing.

Supply Side Platform: a software platform which lets publishers sell their inventory. It is the sale platform s whereas a DSP is the purchase platform. Both platforms allow the marketing of space in the virtual programme market.

Tag: General term used to describe any kind of label, code or pixel used for the identification of ads, locations and users. For example, parameters of Google Analytics, impression pixels or JavaScript code embedded on a web page.

Target: it is the profile or user type an advertising action is aimed at.

Targetization: allows an advertiser to define the target of a campaign. Based on the nature of the campaign and the target audience they want to reach.

Third Party Data: data generated in other platforms. Companies who are exclusively dedicated to the collection of data will sell that data to an advertiser, often in a structured way such as divided by audience segments.

Trader: the name given to those make up the technical team that manages the platforms of programmatic advertising.

Trading Desk: is the technical team that is responsible for controlling the purchase platforms in programmatic advertising. Its function is to manage the purchase of spaces for an advertiser and optimize the actions that are carried out based on the strategy of the advertising campaign.

Unique User: identifying a user as unique, regardless of number of the times the users visits a web page, multiple visits count as one even if the user visits multiple times. They are identified through cookies.

Whitelist: it’s the opposite of a blacklist, representing a series of IP or websites that are approved by the advertiser.

Glossary of Programmatic Advertising.

Programmatic Advertising is the proof of just how important big data has become over the years, the purchase of audience data by advertisers instead of buying advertising space has been a revolutionised Digital marketing. Consequently, it has given us a new vocabulary, expanding it and providing new terms which we need to understand and use, so let’s read on!

Ad Exchange: is one of the most important terms in programmatic advertising. It is the marketplace between digital supply and digital demand. The advertiser who offers the best bid retains the space. The Ad Exchange takes a commission for facilitating the buying and selling of the inventory from multiple ad networks simultaneously.

Ad Networks: a company that aggregated unsold inventory. The platform connects websites with advertising to sell, usually via programmatic exchanges.

Advertiser: is the owner of a brand that decides to advertise its product or service through online channels.

Algorithm: a sequence of operations involved in the automated processes in programmatic advertising. Its function is to generate automatic actions or calculations in relation to the phases that are carried out in online advertising campaigns, such as optimizations and actions in real-time auctions.

Audience: represents those people who interact or are most likely to be interested in your product or service. In this case, in the digital age, the audience are the users.

Automated Guaranteed: A fixed number of ad impressions purchased on a specific web page prior to the scheduled run date.

Banner: is the generalized name for all the ads that appear on a webpage, whether static or dynamic.

Big Data: is the process of collecting a large volume of both structured and unstructured data for further analysis. Traditional media struggle with big data because of both large amount and the complexity of information it contains.

Blacklist: is a series of websites, emails or unwanted IP addresses who for an advertiser contain content that does not suit the brand’s philosophy.

Clusters: audience groups are segmented, based on predefined characteristics or interests, so that impact on the target audience of an advertising campaign is more effective.

Cookie: in online advertising terms, it is understood as a file that contains information about a user. The files are stored in the user’s browser and they collect information about the user´s behaviour on the web for at least 30 days. A user has the right not to be identified with cookies and to may delete them from their browser at any time.

Cost Per Click (CPC): It is the average cost of user click-through. So, advertisers will pay an amount each time a user clicks on an ad.
Formula: total cost / click.

Cost Per Thousand (CPM): Is a model of buying and selling impressions used in online advertising. Basically it is the price of one thousand impressions of an add on a website.
Formula: Total cost * 1000 / number of impressions.

Cost Per View (CPV): Is a purchase model by which the advertiser will pay each time a video format ad is displayed. It is charged only when the viewer watches the video at least 30 seconds. If the video ad has a length of less than 30 seconds, it will be charged when viewed in its entirety.

Cross-Device: this tracking is based on the identification of a user regardless of the device he is using at a specific time (mobile, laptop, desktop…). Cross-device strategies are very important because they help to avoid targeting the same user repeatedly with the same ad or message.

First-Party Data: these are the first-hand data of the advertiser which themselves have collected from their own consumers and audiences. Data about behaviour, actions or interests shown throughout their website, or via Customer Relationship Management, subscription data, social data or mobile web data or apps.

Data Management Platform (DMP): it is a platform in which large amounts of structured and unstructured data are collected, integrated and managed. Allowing the advertiser to define his audience more accurately.

Data Providers: they are responsible for analysing the content of the data collected. This information is arranged regarding the behaviour of the user and depending on the content of the inventory or the degree of brand awareness, as they offer their services to both advertisers and as well other media.

Demand Side Platform (DSP): is the platform allows advertisers to purchase space on websites in real time whether they are displays, videos or mobile. Both Buyers and sellers can be found here.

Display advertising: includes all Internet ads which use various formats such as text, image, or audio and are better known as banners. They can be images, static or dynamic, always with the intention of attracting the user’s attention.

Exclusivity networks: an advertising network whereby the commercialization of the advertising spaces which belong to the network is managed exclusively by the network itself and is not available through third parties.

Hard-Floor Price: is the minimum price an advertiser must bid if he wants to enter the auction.

With the creation of the Sales Management API, all the steps above have been reduced to 0.

How does it work?

Our API synchronizes your CRS data with the data in AffiliRed’s control panel in your own CRS, as shown below:

Remember that the sales management API does not replace the Mojo Control Panel. It is a complementary tool that has been developed to facilitate and speed up your work.

Trade Tracker Poland

This week AffiliRed has launched new travel programs to cover this emerging market.

AffiliRed is always on the lookout for new possibilities and new opportunities within the affiliate market. After several months of analysing our data, we have identified a clear trend in the increase of online bookings coming from Poland. According to our data, the preferred destinations are Canary Islands (Spain), Italy and Croatia. We think that this trend will continue to rise and therefore have decided to go live on TradeTracker Poland affiliate network.

We start off our partnership with TradeTracker Poland by launching the programs of Lopesan and Agoda which are already live in the network. These are the first two programs of many more to come.

TradeTracker is one of AffiliRed’s preferred European affiliate networks. Why? Well, there are several reasons for this: it is a network that gives us the possibility to launch campaigns by country and its integration with our platform is optimal, something that is reflected in the good results obtained by each of the campaigns launched in the different trade tracker networks in Europe.

And coming soon we will be launching new programs in TradeTracker MENA (The Middle East and North Africa). Without risking the wrath of the censor? well, none!…no, just kidding…To be honest, there are lots of tales about Magaluf that I could tell you, but one of the funniest was when a customer fell asleep with his head on his plate (burger and fries with lots ‘n’ lots of ketchup!). Well, you can imagine his face when he woke up I couldn’t stop myself from laughing when he came and asked for another beer.

  • Describe your perfect weekend.

Friday night at the movies followed by a good pizza and, to finish the night off, going for a cool refreshing bottle of mead.

Saturday go for an excursion followed by some board games in the evening.

Sunday spent chilling at home watching a movie series on TV.

All of this done surrounded by the best company of course!

  • If a genie was to grant you 1 wish what would you ask for?

I would ask him to grant all of my wishes at once and then as time went on I would slowly use them to improve my life, the lives of the people surrounding me and, of course, the world in general which every day seems to get worse.

Reto Trailwalker

Nos vamos a Euskadi el 20 y 21 de Mayo para recorrer 100km en menos de 32 horas con Intermón Oxfam.

¿Suena a locura? Nosotros no pensamos lo mismo, hemos decidido realizar el reto Oxfam TrailWalker por una buena razón, como tantas otras empresas: para vencer la pobreza y la injusticia en el mundo. Es un objetivo ambicioso, pero creemos en las buenas acciones y nos encanta formar parte de ellas.

El reto consiste en andar 100km a través de las montañas de Euskadi en grupos de 4 personas. ¡Nosotros hemos conseguido 2 equipos! Lo más interesante es que el equipo debe permanecer unido de principio a fin. Así que nuestro primer y gran reto será entrenar juntos cada semana hasta que consigamos andar y respirar como uno solo. Pero no es el único reto que se nos presenta, tenemos un segundo: conseguir al menos 1500€ desde hoy hasta el 20 de Mayo de 2017.
No vamos a pedir una donación sin más, este es el camino más fácil, preferimos informarte sobre la situación que viven a diario millones de personas y a partir de ahí, que puedas decidir si crees justo colaborar.

trailwalk Euskadi

We are off to Euskadi 20th and 21st of May to walk 100km in under 32 hours!

It sounds crazy? Well we don’t think so, we took up the challenge of Oxfam Trailwalker for a very good reason, same as many other companies: to help beat the poverty and injustice around the world, an ambitious goal, but we believe in good deeds and what’s more, we love to be involved in them.
The challenge consists of walking 100 km through the Euskadi mountains in groups of 4. We get 2 teams! The most interesting part is that we need to start and finish together, as one team. So our first challenge is going to be to train every week all together until we can walk and breath as one. But this isn’t the only part of the challenge, in order to participate we need to raise 1500€ in sponsorship from now until 19th of May 2017. But we aren’t just going to ask for a donation that’s too easy an option, what we want to do is raise awareness of the poverty and injustice facing people all over the world and then for you to make the decision whether you want to sponsor us or not.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! did you know that…

  • In Chad the 65% of the populations hasn’t got access to clean water?
  • In Sahel more than 2 million people face the starvation each day?
  • More than 65 millions refugees need homes, food and daily necessities?

Diego GOmila en el orfanato

Desde que AffiliRed abrió sus oficinas en Palma de Mallorca en 2009, siempre ha tenido muy interiorizado la importancia de colaborar en buenas causas.

Sabemos que hay una gran cantidad de causas en las que colaborar, pero siempre intentamos apoyar aquellas que nos tocan más de cerca por alguna razón. Como muchos ya sabéis, tenemos una importante división en la India y nuestro CEO Diego Gomila, conocedor de la gran cantidad de niños sin hogar y/o familia, se interesó por el desarrollo y crecimiento de estos niños que están en condiciones de pobreza y por tanto de desigualdad. Después de muchos meses buscando una organización en la cuál poder confiar, Diego encontró el orfanato Bal Niketan en Panchkula. Organización sin ánimo de lucro que conoció de primera mano, y donde pudo darse cuenta de la gran labor que están realizando. El orfanato realmente va un paso más allá del resto, porque no solo cuida de los niños, sino que les ayuda en todo lo necesario para su completa rehabilitación en la sociedad, y lo más importante, les enseña a a vivir con dignidad y a valerse por sí mismos. Estos valores fueron los que empujaron a nuestro CEO a que AffiliRed formara parte de este importante proyecto.

Oficialmente, AffiliRed empezará su colaboración con el Orfanato Bal Niketan el 14 de Octubre de 2016. La colaboración consistirá en preparar cada 13 de cada mes una comida especial para todos los niños (salvo este mes de octubre que se realizará el día 14), además de proporcionarles habitualmente bienes tales como: ropa, libros, medicinas o cualquier otro de uso diario.

El objetivo principal de Bal Niketan no solo consiste en proporcionar un hogar a los niños abandonados por su casta, religión o sexo, sino en cuidar personalmente de ellos a todos los niveles ofreciéndoles una educación de calidad, seguridad emocional y asistencia médica con revisiones periódicas y en general, ayudando en cualquier cosa que necesiten para su completo desarrollo.

Debido a su duro y buen trabajo, han sido premiados por «National Award for Child Welfare» en 2000. Buenas noticias para una organización no lucrativa que con o sin premios, sigue luchando contra la discriminación y la pobreza infantil.

Since setting up its first office in Palma de Mallorca in 2009, AffiliRed has always tried to support and work with good causes.

As we all know that there are far too many causes to support, but we try to help the ones that are close to us. As you know we have an important division based in India and our CEO Diego Gomila was looking to help those children in India who live in poverty and inequality; to help them develop and mature into responsible adults. After several months searching for a particular charity a one he felt he could trust, Diego found one which he then went to see first-hand the fantastic and very important work that the Orphanage Bal Niketan is doing. They really do stand out from the other causes, because they not only take care of the child, but they are helping them to become rehabilitated and the most importantly, teach them how to live with dignity and to stand on their own two feet. It was these values that attracted and encouraged our CEO to become a part of this important project.

AffiliRed begins its collaboration with Orphanage Bal Niketan of Panchkula which is a non-profitable organization on the 14th October 2016. The collaboration will consist in preparing a special lunch for all of them on the 13th day of every month, and also providing them with much needed goods such as clothes, books, medicines or any other things which are needed and used every day at the orphanage.

The main goals of Bal Niketan are: to provide a home for abandoned children irrespective of their cast, sex or creed. Take personal care of them, give them a proper education, emotional security and in general, provide all the facilities that are needed to allow the complete rehabilitation of the children. They also take care of another important issue: the health of the little ones. Bal Niketan provides free medical assistance such as regular medical care (vaccination, dental care, first aids…).

For their hard work in child development, they were awarded the «National Award for Child Welfare» in 2000 which was a great recognition of the orphanage with its daily fight against child poverty and discrimination in India.

Today, the hottest topic in Mallorca is the V Edition of the AffiliRed Awards! Why is that possible? Because last night, surrounded by friends, we honoured and rewarded the excellence in the management of the Performance Marketing Campaigns of our clients.

The event kicked off at 21:00pm in the prestigeous MISA Brasserie, where we savoured a fine welcome cocktail in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, as our guests begun to arrive. The night carried on with a tasting of the acclaimed British Michelin-starred Marc Fosh gourmet tapas. It was a truly time of re-encounters and friendly conversations with some of our most relevant partners.

After the Award Ceremony started, Ana Carmona, the AffiliRed’s Head of Communications, hosted and announced the nominees and winners for each award category. Are you impatient to know who were the winners of the night? Here they are!

BEST SELLER AWARD:

The winner of the night was RIU Hotels, as his programme has performed the highest rate of sales in 2015.

2nd BEST SELLER AWARD:

was for MELIÁ Hotels.

3rd BEST SELLER AWARD:

ASIA PACIFIC BEST SELLER AWARD:

Minor Group was rewarded as the best seller in Asia and Pacific.

BALEÀRIA is the winner of this category. In their first year in Performance Marketing the results have been really positive and we predict a bright future for this campaign.
